It’s Tamale time! This Friday we’ll have Doña Estela’s amazing homemade Tamales! She will make them Friday morning and have them at market Friday afternoon. You can get 5 Pork tamales for $7, or 5 Chicken tamales for $7, or 5 jalapeño and cheese tamales for $7. To place an order, please add a note to your CLG order, or text me at 501-339-1039. Delicious with sides of re-fried beans and rice, topped with a bit of salsa and sour cream.

Now is a good time to be planting hardy perennials. If you want to attract lots of pollinators for your tomatoes or peppers, I think Anise hyssop is one of the best around! If you are looking for a vine to climb a wall or trellis, consider Hops. If you want beautiful perennial evergreen plants that produce pretty flowers in winter, Try Hellebores. Fate has smiled upon us again, as Maria has agreed to set up a table of her delicious homemade goodies at pickup this Friday. She will be making homemade chicken tortilla soup, hot in a crockpot, ready for you to take home and enjoy. It can also be refrigerated for several days to enjoy later. And, (where does she find the time), she will also be sampling her new popcorn, with amazing flavors to delight your palette. Prepare for something amazing!

Opening Bell: Bratwurst, Honey, Coffee, Plants!

Good afternoon!

OK, so here’s the deal: It’s probably too early to set out Tomato and Pepper PLANTS, but…you’ll find some listed this week! I started a variety of seeds for my garden at Cedar Rock Ridge in late January. They’re ready for their new homes, but will need to be kept inside for a couple more weeks. It may be 20 degrees tonight, but it will be mid 60’s at market pickup on Friday! Get a jump start on spring by getting some green in your windows now. Check them out: Brad’s Atomic Grape Tomato, Japanese Eggplant, Shishito Pepper, Brazilian Starfish Pepper, and Blueberry Cherry Tomato Plants!

If you arrived to pickup early on Friday, you found STRAWBERRIES on the extras table! Expect more in about two weeks or so.

Good afternoon!

It’s Tamale time! This Friday we’ll have Doña Estela’s amazing homemade Tamales! She will make them Friday morning and have them at market Friday afternoon. They will be 5 for $7 in 3 flavors: Pork, Chicken, or Jalapeño & Cheese. To place an order, please add a note to your CLG order, or text me at 501-339-1039. Thanks to Kim Doughty for hosting a seed starting class at the library on Tuesday. Dozens of people showed up to learn how to grow some of their own food. And the library was abuzz again on Saturday for the seed swap. Hundreds showed up eager to get some new varieties of seeds for this year’s garden. We should have Tomato and Pepper plants available in late March so get your garden spot ready now! Cedar Rock Ridge has lots of Atomic Grape Tomato plants and Shishito Pepper plants growing now, and others.

Bar C has Country sausage and Italian sausage on sale this week. Stock up! Great for making lasagna!

Opening Bell: Beef, Lettuce, Coffee, Honey!

Good afternoon!

We are inching ever closer to spring, and now’s a good time to get ready for your garden. Whether its your first garden, or your 50th garden, we are wishing you the best! We will have lots of vegetable and flower seedlings listed on the market in late March, but here’s a few things you might want to do in the meantime.

Seed Swap this Saturday 11am – 1pm at the Faulkner County Library. With seed saving organizations from all over central Arkansas, as well as area farmers and gardeners in attendance, you will surely find the seeds and know-how you need to grow a bountiful garden this year. The seed library and other helpful resources will also be available.

And this Tuesday at the Library at 6pm, Kim Doughty from Bell Urban Farm is presenting a Seed Starting Workshop with great information for beginner and advanced gardeners.

Lots of Chicken, Pork, and Beef items available now so load up the freezer. And look at the new varieties of Coffee, all roasted just up the road in Rose Bud, Arkansas.
