Opening Bell

Dear Conway Locally Grown Community,

My favorite summertime smell, if it’s not vine ripened tomatoes, fresh basil, or hot summer peppers, must surely be a much needed rain. I love the way a summer thunderstorm suddenly rolls up in the afternoon. The smell of moist air is carried by a cool breeze and followed by a dust quelling downpour that makes every farmer sigh with relief. Sometimes you can see or hear the rain even before it hits, and often in the Ozarks the little valleys cling to clouds of mist long after the storm.

I hope everyone’s gardens, fields, and yards got a drink this weekend. As we enter the midsummer, most of us are behind for the year on rainfall received. Here is a link to some cool weather service graphs that will show you where we currently stand.

The market is open for ordering, and we have a plethora of summer crops for you to choose from. To place an order, visit Conway.locallygrown.net/market Please make sure to hit the checkout button. You will receive a conformation email once you place your order.

Have a wonderful week,
Gabe Levin
