Tamales! Opening Bell: Coffee, Ghost Peppers, Pork, Eggs!

Good afternoon!

October is Garlic planting month at Cedar Rock Ridge. Growing the world’s finest Garlic takes over 200 days and lots of care and attention. Lots of nitrogen, but not too much. Lots of moisture, but evenly spaced throughout the season. It needs a good cold spell to divide into cloves. But everything is worthwhile when you taste the delicious flavor from fresh, organic Garlic. Coming in June 2019!

Check out the new items from Bradford Valley Farm: Pork Sausage and Pork Bratwurst!

Being harvested now: Naga Bhut Jalokia Ghost Peppers! These beautiful pods are extremely hot, about 250 times hotter than a jalapeño. Checking in at just over 1 million Scoville units of heat, the ghost Pepper is an excellent base for homemade hot sauce. This Pepper demands respect. Be careful!

Now is the perfect time to plant perennial flowers that will bloom starting in the spring. We have plenty of old-fashioned Hellebores, Shamrock, Red, Yellow, Purple, and Cream Coneflowers, beautiful magenta-flowered rose Campion, white Bee Balm and others. Search PLANT to see everything that’s available now.

This Friday, Doña Estela and her amazing homemade Tamales! She will make them Friday morning and have them at market Friday afternoon. They will be 5 for $7 in 3 flavors: Pork, Chicken, or Jalapeño & Cheese (Jalapenos from Cedar Rock Ridge). To place an order, please add a note to your CLG order, or text me at 501-339-1039. If you do that, she will have your Tamales labeled for you. Delicious with sides of refried beans and rice, topped with a bit of salsa. They freeze very well so get some for several meals.

Be sure to SEARCH for your favorite items using the search field. Over 500 items available now!

Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!

And save your eggshells throughout the week for the laying hens! :-)

The market is now OPEN for orders. Click here to start shopping:

Opening Bell: Apples, Pumpkins, Peppers, Bacon!

Good afternoon!
Tomorrow is October already! Or finally. Check out this wonderful chile pepper from Cedar Rock Ridge: the Fresno Chile! Great for dehydrating, smoking, eating fresh, in stir-fry, or stuffed with sausage or cream cheese. Very versatile. Enjoy like Jalapenos, which we have plenty of too. We should have Peppers until frost, and some root crops are coming in now.

Several new Members asked why we collect egg shells at every market. Hens need a steady supply of calcium to produce eggs. If they don’t get enough in their diet, the calcium comes from their bones! To prevent that, we crush the eggshells and give them back to the hens to be recycled into beautiful new eggshells! Aren’t chickens awesome!

Tammy Sue won’t be able to list her Soaps and Lotions until November since she will be traveling for shows the whole month. We will still have a small inventory of her items on the Extras table. Rockwood Crafts has the Lotion and Sanitizer sets on sale for only $2.75. Great to carry in your car or purse/manbag.

Check out the Sweet Potatoes now being harvested for you from Drewry Orchard. Buy in bulk or 3 pound bag.

Brighten someone’s day (or week) and order a beautiful fresh cut bouquet from Bell Urban Farm. They last a long time and look amazing!

Be sure to SEARCH for your favorite items using the search field. Over 575 items available now!

Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!

Opening Bell: Tamales, Pumpkins, Honey, Flowers!

Good afternoon!

We all know how delicious and healthy our organically produced food is at Conway Locally Grown, but what do folks outside our market think? Well, we got some feedback this week when I entered 4 items from Cedar Rock Ridge in the Faulkner County Fair. Many other items from area residents were entered to be judged by a panel of Master Gardeners. When all the dust finally settled, all four of our entries had won the coveted blue ribbons of first place in their categories! We are very happy to share our award winning Jalapeños, Banana Peppers, Garlic, and Cherry Tomatoes with our CLG family!

The fall flowers at Bell Urban Farm are beautiful! Get a bouquet this week.

Get ready for fall decorating with some mini-gourds and pumpkins from Drewry Orchards. They have pie pumpkins too. We will also have lots of mini-gourds on the Extras table on Friday.

Back the truck up! Grass Roots has their delicious Smoked Bacon Ends & Pieces for only $6. Fill up the freezer with Bacon because you will need it with your Purple Hull Peas when it’s cold outside. :-)
