Cooks, get out your baking pans, because these eggs make the best cakes and cornbread! Of course, they are great for eating, too: fried, boiled, scrambled, poached, omelets, you name it. Nathaniel eats the poorer quality eggs zapped (in microwave) with seasoning and Miracle Whip on honey wheat bread. Even those are delicious! The better quality--hand-gathered, carefully washed, and placed in the largest cartons Nathaniel is given--are ready for you. These wonderful eggs come from a variety of ducks. We put into the same carton the jumbo-sized eggs from the white Peking ducks and smaller eggs from black-and-white, crested, mallards, and other assorted ducks.

These green and blue eggs are of mixed size. They are from Americana and Easter Egger hens, who have lots of space in which to roam at will, both inside and outside, protected from predators. The hens have access to perches, bugs, sunshine, and shade and are able to socialize with chicks, ducks, and turkeys and the roosters next door. (Note: hens and roosters do not share the same space.)

We have a variety of different chicken breeds that are living their best life on our small farm! Our birds get to roam a 3 acre area where they can eat as many bugs as they can find. We supplement their diet with antibiotic-free grain and feed, and they also get goodies from the garden. Happy chickens lay delicious eggs! We get a mix of white, brown, speckled, blue, and olive green eggs which we collect daily.

In tribute to Rosie, our mascot, our beautiful, one-legged, one-winged hen, we insist on keeping her line of small and bantie eggs available. Rosie was one heck of a chicken and is sorely missed. This is her story. One day, Nathaniel, owner and operator of Funny Farm, found Rosie, a bantie hen, in a mud hole inside the chicken coop, completely covered in mud, and looking dead; but she gave a little squawk when he gently nudged her with his toe. So, Nathaniel picked her up, gave her a warm bath, and put her by herself with a space heater nearby, to see if she would recover. She did, but to the astonishment of the farm workers, was missing one leg and one wing! Since there were raccoon tracks all over the place, it was assumed that one had grabbed her through the space between the door and doorframe, but she had managed to escape and fell in the mud. The mud probably saved her from bleeding to death. Anyway, she became Nathaniel's pet and a fixture of the farm. In gratitude, she started laying these cute, little eggs. So, Rosie's Small and Bantie Eggs was born and has been sold off the Extras Table. But, now, with the presence of over 30 chicks just starting to lay, the number of cartons has suddenly grown. These eggs are small but delicious; and Rosie always insisted that they be sold at a decent price. Enjoy! Note: Rosie's Eggs do contain eggs from Bantie Hens, Pullets of Various Breeds, and from young Ducks.
